Where was Joffrey’s Wedding Feast scene filmed?
The famous wedding feast scene, where Joffrey is poisoned and dies in his mother’s arms, was filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Specifically, the wedding scenery was created in a public park called Park Gradec, located to the west of Fort Lovrijanec.
About Park Gradec
Dating back to 1898, Park Gradec is the oldest and largest public park in Dubrovnik, covering 42 acres (1.7 hectares). Dominated by pine trees that provide ample shade, the park offers scenic sea views and even features a fishpond at the entrance, overlooking both Fort Lovrijanec and the old town. It was in this enchanting setting that the filmmakers constructed the elaborate set for the “purple wedding.”

(Season 4, Episode 2: “The Lion and the Rose”)
Following the wedding of King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) and Queen Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer), the feast commences. Filled with vibrant scenery and entertainers, the scene unfolds with the royal family seated at an ornate table. The atmosphere turns somber as Joffrey chokes and collapses. Despite desperate attempts to help him, he dies in his mother’s arms, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), pointing at his uncle, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), in his final moments. Enraged and grief-stricken, Cersei orders Tyrion’s arrest, believing him responsible for the poisoning.
