Where did they film the Dragonpit scenes?

The ruins of Italica, only 5.6 miles (9 km) north of Seville, represented the Dragonpit in “Game of Thrones.” This ancient city is also the birthplace of three Roman emperors: Trajan, Hadrian, and possibly Theodosius.

The amphitheater in Italica could hold up to 25,000 visitors, making it the third-largest amphitheater in the Roman empire at the time. Today, visitors can marvel at its beautiful mosaic floors, well-preserved ancient buildings, and massive amphitheater.

About the Ruins of Italica near Seville

Founded in 206 BC, Italica housed Roman veterans from the Second Punic Wars against Hannibal and the Carthaginians. Its amphitheater could accommodate up to 25,000 visitors and was a significant landmark in the Roman empire. Along with the amphitheater, the city is known for its well-preserved ancient buildings and beautiful mosaic floors.
