Finding the pond is relatively easy, as it is situated in the heart of the Trsteno Arboretum. To reach it, simply walk from the main “Sommer” house towards the north or in the opposite direction of the sea.

About Trsteno Arboretum and how to get there

Known as the oldest arboretum in this part of the world, the Trsteno Arboretum’s history dates back to the 15th century. The viaduct, still functioning as an irrigation system today, was constructed by a local noble family. By 1948, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts took over its care.

To get there by car, follow the signs from the main road in Trsteno, and you’ll find shadowy parking places nearby. The botanical garden is conveniently connected to the Adriatic Highway and is just a 20-minute drive away from Dubrovnik. For those without a car, a bus route is available from Gruž, a neighborhood in Dubrovnik.
